Night Sakura
Centred around the theme of place, this project uses kinetic typography and animation to capture the feelings of quiet contemplation and tranquility that I used to experience walking down my street at night when the cherry blossoms bloomed. Towards the end of every winter the delicate, fluffy flowers would arrive, lasting only a fortnight.
Yozakura (夜桜) directly translated is “night sakura”. This term refers to the Japanese tradition of viewing cherry blossom trees at night where their ethereal presence is admired evoking thoughts of life, beauty and impermanence.
